We have instructions!

My oldest son is a pretty avid Lego Star Wars collector (and so am I).  Recently, we were working on a set with over 200 pieces sprawled all over the kitchen table.  We had a picture of what we were supposed to build.  In fact, it had already been built and we took it apart to rebuild it.

As I looked at all the pieces on the table I asked my Lego expert son, “Do you think we could rebuild it without the instructions?”

Without hesitation he said, “No.”



Reflecting on his answer I thought, “If we can’t put a 200 piece lego set together without instructions to make it look like what it’s supposed to, how does anyone get through life without God’s instructions to help us be more like Him?”  And being more like Him is exponentially more difficult than putting a lego set together.

It was a great reminder of why reaching someone as a child is so important, there’s “less pieces” to put together.  When we can reach someone as a child, they can begin to build a foundation that’s more like Christ, so when other pieces are added, there’s a higher likelihood they’ll fit where they’re supposed to.

Let’s continue to reach kids with the gospel together, and help them be more like Christ, one piece at a time.
