Why your prayers for the kids at Camp Good News Matter
We might have some pretty amazing counselors at Camp Good News, but we know it’s people praying that’s making the biggest difference. Camp Director, Amy Oosterloo, shares about a tangible time she saw God answering prayer to reach a boy with a gospel:
“Recently, at March Break camp we had one boy who had pretty crazy outbursts, and did not get along with other kids. We actually had to isolate him to his own room.
We thought about sending him home. We weren’t sure what to do with him, so we had all of the staff begin praying for him. We texted other staff who weren’t even there to pray for him.
After a while we came back to him and he had completely calmed down. He was completely different.
I chatted with him and said, “How can we handle this situation?”
He told me how he was going to handle it and I was just amazed.
Not only was God working in his life to handle this situation, but it also showed me the power of prayer.
God worked through this boy. We didn’t have to send him home and he was able to stay the rest of the week and he continued to hear God’s Word.
He didn’t come from a Christian home, so here at camp was a place he could hear God’s Word.”
At Camp Good News we aim to have every child covered in prayer the week they are with us. If you’d like to “sponsor” a child in prayer, email us at campgoodnews@cefontario.org.
