Rest

Rest

Sometimes we forget how important it is to rest after a time of work, especially in ministry.  Somehow we think that we can keep going endlessly and God will enable us to do that because we’re doing His work. And if there is a reason that we can’t stop to rest, God will give us what we need to keep going. But that’s not the model we should seek to follow. Instead, we should follow Jesus’ example.

Then Jesus said, “Let’s go off by ourselves to a quiet place and rest awhile.” He said this because there were so many people coming and going that Jesus and his apostles didn’t even have time to eat.  Mark 6:31

After ministering to people for a period of time, Jesus left the crowds to rest.  Just as Jesus did during His earthly ministry, we live in the confines of fallen flesh and blood. We need rest in order to keep going in ministry long-term.

After 7 weeks of ministry the Crew need a time of rest and refreshment before heading home and into all the activity of the fall season. Most of them will be at Youth Camp this week doing just that.  Resting, enjoying fellowship with their Crew friends, and being spiritually refreshed.

Pray for those of us who will be making sure the Crew have a great week at camp. Pray for Ivhan Rusli who will be bringing messages from Scripture each morning. Pray for the counsellors to have wisdom and energy. Pray for the cook who has also been serving for 7 weeks and has one more week in the kitchen! And of course, pray for the Crew to have a good rest.

And as you pray for us, take some time to rest from your work as well. The activity of autumn is only a couple of weeks away. Make sure you’re rested and ready to serve God another year!

Keep Seeking the Kingdom!
