Praying in the school yard

Praying in the school yard

Praying in the school yard

Once in a while I get to pick my daughter up from school. As I wait outside the doors I see other parents standing around doing different things, sitting quietly in the shade, chatting with another, scrolling through their phone.

If the weather is nice classes are outside and kids are hanging out on the tarmac or playing soccer on the dirt field. Other kids goofing around or milling about in groups.

Then the school bell rings and kids come rushing out the doors. Some run to waiting parents, some run to the school buses, and the others go home on their own.

For a few minutes there’s madness in the school yard as everyone tries to find their way.

I observe the chaos and wonder where everyone is in their relationship with God. Have they heard about Him? Do they believe in Him? Has anyone ever tried to tell them? When will they know?

What is my responsibility in all of this?

I start to think about the different ways I can try to reach out to them, but also think about the obstacles as well. I know in a minute or two the school yard will be empty so I just pray.

I pray for the kids that God would send people across their paths, throughout their lives, that would lead them to Jesus. I pray that God would continue to work in the lives of the parents as well. I pray that I would be obedient should God ask me to do anything to reach out to them.

As I’m done praying my daughter finds me and we make our way home. I’m thankful she knows Jesus and pray that all the kids will too. Imagine a whole generation growing up and loving Jesus…

Would you pray today and everyday for the kids that come across your path?

Whether you are able to give once, or monthly, we thank you for your unwavering support.
