Prayer is our Priority
One of our values points at CEFOntario is, “Prayer is our Priority.” We believe all of our labour is in vain if it’s not bathed in prayer. We never want to run ahead or behind God, but only to walk beside Him. To do that, we have to pray.
We are so thankful for Mariana Resendiz who spearheads our monthly Zoom prayer meetings. Here’s a peak into her heart around this vital ministry of prayer:
“I consider myself an introvert. Social gatherings, sometimes, are hard for me especially if there’s a lot of people I don’t know. It takes a lot for me to be social and connect with people, but, for some reason, speaking doesn’t make me as nervous as trying to be sociable.
Two years ago, I was asked if I would lead CEFOntario’s monthly prayer meeting by Zoom. Even though I’m an introvert, I don’t have a problem praying out loud and I believe it is important to gather together to bring our requests to our Heavenly Father.
The first prayer meeting was January 14, 2021 with two volunteers and myself.
The following month, eleven people joined, and since then, I have had the privilege to see God move in the hearts of people.
I’ve been able to see the heart and deep burden people have to share the Good News of Jesus Christ to children of Ontario.
I appreciate the sense of family, to realize that we have one thing in common, that we want to know God more and we know that we depend on Him for everything we need and have the certainty that He will provide according to His will.
I still get nervous when I have to host a prayer meeting but God is so wonderful that in my weakness He proves He is able to carry me and show me what He can do when I submit to His will.
I appreciate seeing people care deeply for the needs of the ministry, the commitment to come to the prayer meetings and even if they are not available for every month, they still want to know the prayer requests so they can pray for them on their own.
Sometimes we think prayer is an obligation, but, the more I do it, the more I know how much we need our Father in everything we do and it’s exciting to see what the Lord will do!”
