What would you ask Jesus?
Have you ever underestimated a child’s ability to comprehend the gospel? I have. Programs Team member, Amy Oosterloo, recently shared a story that reminded me just how much I can learn from a child:
“I was recently teaching Sunday school to grades 4-5 and I asked the question, “If you saw Jesus in person, what would you ask Him?”
I was expecting answers like, “Can I have an Xbox?” or “What’s heaven like?”
While I did get some of those questions, I also got some pretty deep ones that I wasn’t expecting.
One question that really surprised me was asked by a young girl. She spoke up with the sincerest heart and said, “Why did you die for all of us even though we didn’t deserve it?”
We didn’t deserve it. Why would He die?
Even though the Bible talks about it, imagine hearing the answer from the mouth of Christ! How powerful would it be to hear Christ tell you exactly why He died for you?
Walking with Jesus, getting the chance to ask Him, and then right there, He tells you.
“For this is how I loved the world: My Father gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Me will not perish but have eternal life.”
What a privilege it is to not only teach boys and girls about the gospel, but to also learn from them.
Whether you are able to give once, or monthly, we thank you for your unwavering support.
