I was offended

Recently I was on a flight going from Toronto to Regina, Saskatchewan. My seat was just a couple rows behind “first class”. Not a big deal…even if the seats do seem to be shrinking.
Once everyone had made their way to their seats and their carry-on baggage was stuffed in the overhead compartments the flight attendants started to get ready for take-off.
And then it happened. Ksssshhhhhhttttt. With conviction, the flight attendant had shut the tiny little curtains separating first class from everyone else.  I was offended.
The shutting of the curtain seemed to say, “You’re not even worthy enough to look in first class, let alone sit in it.”
I was annoyed, but also amused at myself that it would offend me.

Then I thought of Jesus and his work on the cross. I’m so thankful that he came to remove the curtain that once separated us from God.
“Then Jesus shouted again, and he released his spirit. At that moment, the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two from top to bottom.” Matthew 27:50,51
Not only did Jesus keep the curtains open, he tore them down.  In his kingdom there is no first class, or economy, we are all citizens of heaven.
We all get a first class seat to be with God forever, not because of anything we have done, but because of all that he has done.
Let’s continue to share the Good News with those around us so countless more can join us.

Is there a tradition you like to do with your family to help Jesus at the centre of it?  We’d love to hear from you!

Whether you are able to give once, or monthly, we thank you for your unwavering support.
