I realized I had no money to pay for anything

I realized I had no money to pay for anything

Have you ever been stuck in a situation and tried to figure out every possible way that God could work it out, but then He does something totally unexpected – even though you were sure you considered every possibility?

I have. All the time.

I’m so thankful His ways are higher than my ways, His thoughts, higher than my thoughts! (Isaiah 55:9).

Yvette Hewitson shares about a time where God provided in the most unlikely of ways.

“Every year, I ran a family retreat for the kids that I minister to at our facility in Brantford. A while back as I was preparing for one of these retreats I realized I had no money to pay for anything.

As time went by, families kept registering. I was like, “What should I do Lord? Should I cancel?”  But I felt like God was telling me to just believe. He was going to come through for me in some way.

One day, one of the mothers [who had registered for the retreat] came into the community room and brought with her a big bag of fish she caught when she was fishing…and she was giving it to me.

That just reminded me how Jesus fed the 5000 with the five loaves and two fish. I knew, somehow, God was going to come through.

A few days before the retreat started I was at our staff meeting, and Jeanette came over to me. [She was the camp cook at the time]. She said to me, “Are you having a retreat this weekend?”

I’m like, “Yeah.”

She said, “Someone left the fridge door open all night and [we have] a lot of roast beef in that fridge that [we] have to cook, [we] just don’t know who to give it to or how to get rid of it.”

So she asked me if the families of the retreat would like roast beef for this weekend.

And I went, ‘Yes! Sure! I would love roast beef!’

She also showed me other food that was leftover from other retreats and camps that we could eat.

That weekend there were about thirty people that attended the retreat and everyone got fed over and above.

God is good.”

We often don’t see God work in our lives because we are afraid to trust Him to do what seems impossible.

Whether you are able to give once, or monthly, we thank you for your unwavering support.
