Be a DOER!

Be a DOER!

Be a DOER!

Though I love gardens, I have never had much success growing one.  But when we moved to a beautiful country property with multiple well-maintained gardens I was determined to keep them growing.  I was thrilled when we got to know a retired farmer and his avid gardener wife.  The plant cuttings and unending gardening advice was welcome, and would surely guarantee gardening success!  Today, eight years later, my gardens are a remnant of their former beauty, mostly overgrown with what I like to call “wildflowers”…but most call weeds.

No matter how well I listened, or even accepted healthy plant cuttings, no matter how much I thought about growing beautiful gardens, I never put the time into following my friends’ solid advice.  So my gardens failed.

That’s what James meant when he said, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.”  James 2:18

No matter how much we read the Bible, listen to sermons, and want to live a godly life, it only happens when we actually obey Scripture.

But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.  James 1:22

What can you do this summer to be a “doer” of the Word?
